Korean game publisher Krafton suggested Subnautica 3 release date somewhere in 2025!
A potential 2025 release date for the Subnautica sequel has been suggested by Korean game publisher Krafton. The game is reportedly currently in development. January 2019 saw the release of Subnautica: Below Zero, the most recent installment in the Subnautica series, on the PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
The 2014 game Subnautica: Below Zero was a straight sequel that extended the universe of the series and the player’s knowledge from the first installment. For the past few years, gamers and fans have been speculating about what they might anticipate from a potential sequel due to this and the game’s shocking conclusion. The chief artist for the first two Subnautica games, Liam Tart, gave hints that the next installment won’t be out for a while, but he didn’t give a specific release date. However, it appears Krafton, which bought Unknown Worlds Entertainment and developed Subnautica, might have lately offered a response.
In a presentation, Krafton stated that the Subnautica 3 release date is set in 2025. The presentation confirms that Unknown Worlds is developing the game and that it will remain an adventure survival game, despite the lack of additional details. Given its length of production, a Destructoid story suggested that the upcoming Subnautica game would be a successor to Below Zero.
Where Will Subnautica 3 Take Place
Apparently, Subnautica 3 will take place underwater unlike its predecessor! As per Krafton’s presentation, and as mentioned earlier, it is clear that the first half of 2025 gonna be the leg breaker.
Back in 2021, Krafton had purchased Unknown Worlds Entertainment, a company which is developing Subnautica 3. Mention of the next game comes as part of a Krafton financial report, spotted by RPS, that lists “the next Subnautica” targeting a “1H25” launch, meaning the first half of 2025. All we know is that Subnautica is still operational somewhere deep within Unknown Worlds, which is encouraging.
Furthermore as published earlier by us, full access of Subnautica 3 might take another 12-18 months from now but gamers and early-birds can expect early access by next year. So hold the throttle and be prepared for that glamorous peek-a-boo!
Subnautica 3 Release Date Window Along With Krafton’s Other Projects
It’s interesting to note that the publisher plans to release around 32 games between 2024 and 2026, including the next Subnautica title, according to Krafton’s presentation. Project Black Budget, Gold Rush, and Windless are a few of these games. While Gold Rush is an action-adventure sandbox game and Windless is purportedly an action RPG, Black Budget is anticipated to be an extraction shooter. Among the titles the publisher plans to release between 2024 and 2026 is inZOI, a life simulation game developed by Krafton that seeks to compete with Electronic Arts’ The Sims.
According to Krafton’s disclosure, fans of Subnautica might soon find out if the upcoming game will support online cooperative multiplayer, enabling users to explore and construct bases alongside one another. As players may remember, Unknown Worlds had originally planned to release the 2014 original game with online multiplayer, but they had to make changes to release it sooner. In addition, Unknown Worlds may, as it did with its predecessors, offer early access to the next game before its official release. However, they are merely conjectures and ought to be viewed with caution.
Having said that, Krafton revealed a possible release window for a new Subnautica game, so many fans of the franchise will have something to look forward to coming next year. Whether the game is a spin-off or a sequel remains to be seen, but for fans of the franchise, any opportunity to go further into exotic worlds and broaden the Subnautica universe is a win.
