Shadowheart is one of the mysterious and closest friend of Laezel. Few day back we had updated best build for Laezel, including best weaponary for her and differences you’ll notice if you choose to play as Laezel. Today, we will be providing you Shadowheart build in BG3.
Larian Studios went to considerable lengths in Baldur’s Gate 3 to create likable, fascinating characters that you would want to battle beside you. Among these figures is Shadowheart. It’s clear that she’s a mystery woman with a lot of secrets, but if you can win her over, she’ll start sharing more information with you about her background. She is quite helpful on the battlefield as a cleric.
Shadowheart Overview
You can meet Shadowheart on the nautiloid, just like you can meet Lae’zel. She is a high half-elf priest in the trickery domain. She’s in one of the Mindflayer pods. If you can figure out a simple trick to get her out, she’ll trust you more when you meet her again on land. Checkout the following table to see the standards characterstics of Shadowheart,
Statistic | Value |
---|---|
Strength | 13 |
Dexterity | 13 |
Constitution | 14 |
Intelligence | 10 |
Wisdom | 17 |
Charisma | 10 |
The best word to describe Shadowheart’s stats is “decent.” We’ll be taking steps to raise her Wisdom score, which is just above average at 17. On the other hand, her good scores in Dexterity and Constitution make her more likely to survive than many other Clerics.
Since priests choose their domain when they are made, there isn’t much they can change unless they talk to Withers and reclass. However, there are some things we can do for her that will make her more useful than she is now.
The best Cleric Build for Trickery in Shadowheart
If you want to keep Shadowheart as a trickster priest, this is the best build for you. It fits with her story the best and stays most “canon.”
This build will play like any other priest for the first few levels; there isn’t much difference between them. But once we get feats and better spells, Shadowheart turns into a flexible support character with useful skills, the standard set of S-tier cleric spells, and great stats for her job.
Stat Respec
This build will work if you go to Withers and change Shadowheart’s stats. We need to put her +2 bonus into Wisdom and +1 bonus into Constitution for this build to work. The stats should be in the range of 10/14/15/10/17/8. Talk to Withers as Shadowheart and ask to Change your Class. This will cost 100 gold.

As a cleric, Shadowheart will almost always have a wide range of tools that she can use to help solve problems. Spirit Guardians and Spirit Weapon are her best powers, and her bonus action of ranged healing is great for saving someone about to die. Her ability to control the battlefield isn’t as strong as, say, a druid’s, but she still has some great choices.
Note
However, Shadowheart can use good magical weapons that fit her play style, like the Blood of Lathander or the Woe quarterstaff. Your best weapons should go to your nonmagical characters who do the most damage.
If you don’t have to worry about spell slots in the long term (meaning you have a lot of time to rest between battles), Shadowheart will be a very powerful damage dealer with great control choices. It’s great that you can lock down enemies with high-roll Hold Person and Dominate Person casts. If you pair this with a good melee character, it can make fights easier.
One place where Shadowheart will really shine is in fights against zombies. Turn Undead is a really strong skill, especially after Level 5. The damage from all the glowing sources will add up very quickly.
Additional Tip
Two of the best trickster domain spells are Mirror Image and Pass Without Trace. The first one will help Shadowheart survive in tougher fights, and the second one is a lifesaver when you need to make a Stealth check.
Other Domains To Consider for Shadowheart
Even though Shadowheart’s usual cleric domain is trickery, there are some other classes that you might want to think about changing her to. The main reason for this is if you share a lot of skills or roles with someone else in the party, most likely Astarion or a unique character that focuses on stealth.
First, Shadowheart will be a much more useful party member after getting the life domain. This domain is all about healing and helping the party. Healing skills help heal a lot more in this domain. This sounds great and can be very useful, but it’s probably not the best way to use Shadowheart’s domain choice. The spells she gains are all normal cleric spells, and she doesn’t need to heal a lot because of how the game handles death rolls and how common Long Rests are.
Storm Domain For Shadowheart build bg3
You could also use the storm domain, which is more focused on damage. With this domain, Shadowheart would have a lot more ways to be in the middle to front lines and deal more damage. This is probably the best choice for a group that doesn’t mind their priest spending turns on offense. It has features that make your lightning and thunder spells very powerful, as well as a lot of other spells that deal those types of damage, like Thunderwave, Call Lightning, and Shatter.
War Realm For Shadowheart build bg3
Finally, the war realm could be a good choice for people who like the idea of Shadowheart as a frontline soldier. The features of this domain make close combat attacks better, and its spells include the Crusader’s Mantle spell, which is usually only available to Paladins.
Make sure Shadowheart has a high Strength stat if you do choose to go this way. If you’re friends with the Hag in Act 1, you can get a lot of Elixirs of Cloud Giant Strength. If you want to do this without hurting her other stats, get the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength as soon as possible in Act 3. One cool thing about this build is that Shadowheart can fully use the cool spear she can get from Shar’s Gauntlet.
Remember
It’s worth mentioning that Shadowheart can wear Heavy Armor in all of these domains, which means you can drop her Dexterity if you want to change those stat points.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Shadowheart, the enigmatic cleric in Baldur’s Gate 3, offers a versatile and powerful build with a focus on the trickery domain. With a baseline of decent stats, particularly in Dexterity and Constitution, she becomes a reliable support character as you progress. The suggested build emphasizes raising her Wisdom and Constitution, ensuring she excels in her cleric role. Shadowheart’s journey unfolds through key levels, unlocking potent spells and features, making her a formidable force on the battlefield. Whether sticking to the trickster priest archetype or exploring alternative domains, Shadowheart proves to be a valuable asset with diverse capabilities in combat scenarios.
